November 1: I'm behind in tweets, but will catch up soon. Just wanted to let you know I had a great trip to the US, and we just arrived in Singapore.
November 1: Maman and Dada told me I was a great little monkey on both flights. Another 24 hour flight under my belt....
November 1: October 16th: I think I know what I want to be when I grow up... a drummer. Boom Boom Boom. I loved playing with my Aunt Suza's drum set.
November 2: That was one good meal!
November 2: While in DC, I went to the zoo a few times. This time I went with my friends Elisabeth and Luke. Look it's a toucan bird over there.
November 2: My first fish sticks (still at the zoo). I am not sure I am much of a fan. They were missing spicy peppers.
November 2: got to go to the barn and pet Phoebe, my grandmother's horse...
November 2: ... and even ride my own little pony.
November 2: I also got to fly in the air.
November 2: Isn't my pony adorable?
November 2: After riding, I played around in the fields as the sun started to set.
November 2: I think I even figured out what the switch was for.
November 3: On the weekend of the 16th of Oct., I had my first cow milk bottle. I drank it as if it had been my formula that is with moderate interest.
November 3: On Monday Oct. 18, my marraine and her daugther Bailia came to DC to hang out with me (and my mom). We had lots of fun. I miss you B.
November 3: Here we are at the Washington monument. At first we were curious about each other but did not interact very much.
November 3: Strollers make such great toys... there are clasps and wheels and scratchy pockets and often hidden milk/water/food somewhere in there.
November 3: This light does not seem to be working does it? Hmmm...
November 3: Having little B around to play with is fun!
November 3: Our favorite "toy" was the spice cabinet. Take the spices out, sometimes attempt to put them back in or just wait for someone else to do it and then take them out again (oh and thanks for the turtle B).
November 3: With time, we became fast friends. Looking for each other and smiling at each other and interacting with each other. Here I am attempting to kiss Bailia through the plastic sign. Sadly, it was not a very successful attempt. [I did do a good job kissing the plastic panel though!]
November 3: We even rolled around and played guili-guili (tickle me) in our mamans' bed.
November 3: And went to the National Art Gallery to the the Arcimboldo exhibit. Mmm fruit and veggies.
November 3: We picked some beautiful fall leaves which we put in our baskets. Do you want a basket Bailia?
November 3: Thank you for the leaf. It will look great with my collection or... shall we dance?
November 3: Surrounded by two beautiful girls. Thanks for the ride Ophelia.
November 3: I think if we do this together, we can lift this ball no?
November 3: The group just before O and B left. Bye bye and hope to see you soon somewhere around the world. Maybe in France next summer?
November 3: Bye bye DC and grandma and grandpa and Marnie the dog. But luckily I will see grandma and grandpa again in NYC in less than a week.
November 4: In NYC, with my aunt Suza.
November 4: It takes three of my aunts and uncles to push my stroller: one to hold my hand, one to hold the left handle and one to hold the right handle of the stroller!
November 4: Suza, can I have more of that yummy scone (this is after I grabbed the big piece of scone instead of the little one which I had been offered).
November 4: Sac à patates hold.
November 4: From the back. Loving the sac à patates hold.
November 4: Doing one of my new funny walks in Central Park.
November 4: Petting Gully. I love animals, cats, dogs, horses but also bees and bugs and geckos and snails and mice and rabbits and turtles.
November 4: I had a packed social schedule in NYC brunch at Alice's with Padma, breakfast with Inaara & her parents and coffee with Itai and many more.
November 4: Hanging out at the MET with my aunts and uncles. O'keefe me fait kiffer (ok that's not very funny but I just had to).
November 4: Riding baby Ben's giraffe with a little help from Jarett.
November 4: With baby Ben. Where is the gecko? Can I see a gecko? I miss my baby gecko from back home.
November 4: Here I am in front of my great-grandma Zelda's old building. I got to tour the building and even visit her old apartment (though maman says it has changed a lot).
November 4: They redid the GK (green kitchen). That's sad, I won't be able to try the place my great-grandma used to eat at all the time, the place my grandpa studied for the bar, the place my mama used to go to as a little girl.
November 4: Plane, Plane. Watching planes fly over Central Park.
November 4: Peach time! I had not had a peach in a while and was so excited and happy to eat this peach.
November 4: With my great-aunt Caroline in front of Nice Matin where I had a delicious bowl of fruit.
November 4: Overall, I am a happy little guy....
November 4: But sometimes, I cry and pitch a fit (mostly because I don't want to go to sleep, because I am too tired or because I want to play with Tom the Cat app on the iphone and am not allowed to).
November 5: Steven, who is about a year older than I am, and I played with my foam letters when I was out visiting him in Long Island. We also shared a snack (meaning I tried to eat all the available food).
November 5: I also got to play with my friend Blake (who is a couple of month younger than I am).
November 5: After Blake went to bed, I had the toy to myself...
November 5: Also after Blake went to bed, I read the caterpillar book with Suza.
November 5: Fall leaves. I don't get to see many of those at home. They are so colorful and fun to roll in.
November 5: My dada and I at Calle Ocho.
November 5: Me with all my aunts and uncles at Calle Ocho.
November 5: For Halloween, I was a little monkey this year.
November 5: Since I was going to be on a plane for Halloween, I got to trick-or-treat a day earlier. Knock knock knock...
November 5: Treat, treat, please treat. Mmmm yummy grapes.
November 5: Trick or treat? Thanks for the puffs grandpa.
November 5: A little monkey in Newark Airport.
November 5: Little monkey playing peekaboo in Newark airport.
November 5: Little monkey on a plane.
November 5: The monkey suit was very comfortable. It provided a little pillow but I only got to wear it on the 1st flight (luckily it was 14 hrs long!).
November 7: I can't wait to see my Nyon neighbors, Myriam, Marco and Stella tomorrow.
November 9: Me and my big sister Stella. It is great seeing her again. We had a lot of fun reading together and running together and playing together.
November 9: Although I was a great litle boy on the plane, my nights since coming back to Singapore have been a bit spotty. Time change is no fun.
November 12: I am off to Bali to see Stella. See you in a few days.
November 12: The airplane is late late late. Apparently something is broken.
November 17: Stella and I had a great time playing with all my toys and books.
November 17: After a fun and relaxing day by the pool and playing with my toys, we spent the next day at the science center. Here I am petting the automated seal. He moved his body and made noises when you pet him.
November 17: Still at the science center, here we are playing with the Tibetan bowls.
November 17: Playing in the science center water park. Here we are testing the capacity of the water jets to keep the balls floating.
November 17: After all this playing, Stella and I shared a snack.
November 17: And then did some arts and crafts.
November 17: That night, we had dinner at the Lau Pa Sat market. Mmmm food.
November 17: Stella loved taking pictures of me...
November 17: To celebrate my 16th month birthday, we went to the zoo. Look at us riding the elephant...
November 17: And to the zoo's splash park.
November 17: At 16 months, I still love reading books, the kiss monster, cuddles and of course good food. I also love climbing stairs, chairs, tables...
- I also love flowers, picking them off the ground, looking at them, smelling them, searching for bees on them;
- And... animals big and small; and
- I love the idea of skyping family & friends but somehow the realization of it is not as exciting. It's just not the same as seeing them.
November 17: I point at the computer and ask for my aunt Suza but then when she appears on the screen I am not sure what to do.
November 17: I also still love watching my animal videos on youtube: the gorilla, the dolphin, the penguins (from happy feet) and of course, the ibis.
November 17: I love the water, pools, splash parks, the ocean...
November 17: I like going to new places.
November 17: My favorite book is the "banana bird" book on the colors of nature.
November 17: My favorite fruits are the strawberry and the tomato.
November 17: I don't like being overtired or not getting my way.
November 17: At 16 months, I can :
- do more than 70 signs (my parents lost count) and put up to 3 signs together: more, apple, please; baby gecko please.
- ask questions: Lhasa plane? (is Lhasa coming on the plane with us? I worry about Lhasa being left alone). Dada phone? (can we call Dada).
- answer questions like do I want to go home or play on the slide (the sign for home is the sign for going to see Lhasa the cat). Or what do you want to eat? Or where do you want to go (the slide, the swing, the pool...)?
- follow directions like go get the gorilla book or put the books aways or throw this out in the garbage can or give Lhasa/maman a hug.
- sing (or dadada) a few recognizable tunes. (I still love music).
- lock, unlock and open the doors in our apartment.
- recognize about 18 letters of the alphabet (though I am still a bit spotty sometimes) either by pointing at the letter called or doing the sign associated with a desiginated letter... A is for Abeille, B is for Bebe, C is for Chat, D is for Dada, E is for Elephant... [eventually we chose words that worked in both languages so F is for Fleur and also Flower, D is for dauphin and dolphin...]
- climb up the slide ladder and go down the slide on my own.
- say a few words but my spoken vocab is still very limited.
- And sign please and thank you appropriately. I am sure I am forgetting something but I will stop here for now.
November 17: On November 11, Myriam, Marco and Stella left but not before taking the traditional "portrait of a visitor" on the couch.
November 19: Luckily I got to see Stella and her parents a few days later in Bali. Stella was so happy to see me...
November 19: Hanging out with Myriam.
November 19: I made a little friend at the pool.
November 19: Enjoying life at my friend's private pool. Here I am playing with her little 5 month old brother.
November 19: Babies are so much fun!
November 19: That night, we had a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach with everyone...
November 19: Well, till it started pouring rain and we had to huddle under umbrellas. It ended up being a wet but cozy dinner.
November 19: Next morning, I was off to some new adventures. Maman did not join us because she was not feeling well (she is better now luckily). The resort was very beautiful with lots of fish and fish sculptures everywhere which I was excited about.
November 19: With Myriam...
November 19: Bye bye Stella, Myriam and Marco. It was great seeing you and playing with you. I will miss our guili guili games Stella.
November 19: I forgot a few things I can do at 16 mos: I can stack my rings in order (sometimes I make a mistake but I can correct myself).
November 19: Also I increasingly understand mama and dada when they talk both in English and in French. No more secrets from me!
November 19: Oh and my mama says I am 81.3 cm.
November 20: Happy birthday first birthday to Romy and Bailia. Have a great one cuties.
November 23: This past weekend, a nice lady in the subway gave me a beautiful flower. Pretty cool no?
November 23: In the past month and a bit, I have started helping out around the house. Is this where the dirt is Dada?
November 23: Hard at work.
November 23: I have also begun throwing fits in the past few weeks. Of course when they wanted to take a photo of me in the throws of it... no fit.
November 23: On Sunday, we picnicked at the botanical gardens and then played with the ball...
November 23: and bubbles...
November 23: Playing with maman's bubbles is fun, but nothing beats making my own bubbles with the bubble-making machine.
November 23: After all this fun, I climbed into my stroller ready to be transported to the next activity... a hair cut.
November 23: Here I am pre-haircut...
November 23: And post-haircut.
November 23: To celebrate my new haircut, I went to the indoor playground.
November 23: Goodnight everyone (or have a great day to those getting up)!
November 24: I love climbing. My maman turned her head for a sec and I was on top of the coffee table snuggling against Lhasa..
November 24: 10 minutes later I made a detour to my room to check out the bathroom ... and mom found me washing my hands perched on my stool.
November 24: Helping maman carry the groceries home.
November 25: I have been working on my talking today - I said baba for ball and splatt splatt and finally agreed to say mama to my mama.
November 26: I am so excited to be going to Bali for Xmas with my grandparents.
November 29: I am already a good negotiator (did I tell you I loved bananas?)
November 29: My 1st Noah quote. Dada: Noah this is the last strawberry. Me: yes then sign Banana, banana, banana.
November 29: 2nd quote.
Maman:Noah will you stay with Daniel & S?
Me: No. Banana.
Maman: If I give you a banana for your snack will you play nicely.
Me: Yes.
November 30: This morning, my maman was busy and I noticed the coffee table was dirty so I went to get the sponge and started cleaning it like maman did the other day.
November 30: Maman, Maman look I can take my shoes off and put them back on by myself.
November 30: Playing with my new toy (thanks grandma and grandpa). I can get the ball onto the stand pretty well...
November 30: But I am still working on my batting skills and...
November 30: ... on carrying both the bat and the ball at the same time.
