Twitter: October 2010

October 4: I did some shopping over the weekend and saw many stores selling fur hats and down coats. Really? In Singapore?

October 4: Yesterday, I had tea with my little friend Zeyad. He is a baby and so soft and cute.

October 6: Yesterday, I went to the Science Center with my friend Daniel. He had a cool hat.

October 6: Tomorrow I am off to the US. I will be traveling for 21 hours! But luckily my parents have packed lots of snacks, books and toys for me.

October 12: I made it in! I had a great time reading and playing during the first flight and slept albeit fitfully during the second flight.

October 17: My first weekend in DC was quite eventful: my aunt Abby got married.

October 17: The weekend began with a dinner on Friday night where I met the groom's family and got to eat some yummy food. As you know, I like food!

October 17: Then there was a bagel and lox brunch at my grandma's house.

October 17: After brunch, my aunt and soon-to-be uncle took me to the zoo. Wheeee!

October 17: That evening we went to the rehearsal dinner where I got to eat some tasty Lebanese food and flit from table to table flirting with everyone.

October 17: Me, my parents and AUNT SUZA (one of my three favorite aunts!) at the Lebanese restaurant.

October 17: At the wedding, I get to be a flower boy strewing petals down the aisle. Here I am practicing with shredded newspaper.

October 17: What did they do to mama's hair? Am I next?

October 17: Oooo la la. I am going to have beautiful hair for the wedding. The girls got their make-up done too but I think I am naturally cute.

October 17: Isn't the bride beautiful in her red dress (and her sister too)?

October 17: Off to the wedding! [the wedding was actually on 10.10.10]

October 17: The wedding began with a procession and I scattered the rose petals like a pro.

October 17: The ceremony was beautiful and delicious (I got my snack just as it started)! And I only shrieked once or twice!

October 17:  After the ceremony we went to dinner. Mmmmm Spanish food. And I got to do my skit which, I am told, was very cute and funny.

October 17: The skit began with my dad making a computer science talk. I then came in signing ball. And my dad realized that he had the wrong venue.

October 17: Dad then began juggling the balls and I signed ball ball again (at my mam's request). My silly parents then gave me all the balls to juggle!

October 17:  I then did a few of my animal signs. Mam then reminded me I was at a wedding...

October 17: ...so I did the sign for "bride & groom circling 7 times" turn turn turn! And "breaking the glass under the Chuppah" stomp stomp stomp!

October 17: My mama then said Aunt Abby and I did the sign for beautiful (because aunt Abby is beautiful)! She then said wedding and I blew kisses.

October 17: Finally I did the baby sign when she said honeymoon. Isn't that what honeymoons are for? I want a cousin pleeeeeaase.

October 17: After the dinner, we danced and danced and I was quite the little star.

October 17: What a wonderful way to celebrate my 15 months birthday!

October 17:  The next day, I helped aunt Abby and uncle Ron open their presents.

October 17: After all the fun and craziness were over, I got to read my favorite books with Aunt Suza.

October 17: I also got to play the piano with my grandmother.

October 17: I had corn on the cob for the first time. Corn good - but I am still working on the cob.

October 17:  I had a great time picking leaves for my collage (though I also enjoyed throwing them all on the ground and starting all over again).

October 17:  .... and again. There are so many leaves to pick!

Twitter: September 2010

September 1: I have a new magical tent...

September 1: I went to the Jurong bird park today. Here I am with my favorite bird, the ibis.

September 1: I also got to play with a very big pigeon who seemed curious about me.

September 1: I was playing with my foam letters and took out the "F" and made the flower sign. "F" is for flower. My maman pulled out a few more letters and then the "F" again and I made the flower sign again.

September 2:  I have a new big-boy bedtime routine: shower, milk while listening to a podcast, then toothbrushing, story time and bedtime with my music.

September 9: I went to a splash park on tues. I love water slides & tunnels. I also went to a ball pool and tried to chuck all the balls on the floor.

September 10: I am so excited to see my mamie in less than an hour :)

September 11: I had another playdate with Daniel the other day. We are becoming good friends.

September 11: We hugged...

September 11: and we kissed...

September 11: and were just happy playing together. Peekaboo.

September 12:  I turned 14 months old the other day. To celebrate, I pushed out my 8th tooth! Pics of me to come.

September 12: Before my dada headed out to Boston for a conference, we played in the pool all together.

September 12: Tomorrow I head out to the Indonesian island of Bintan with my maman and mamie. Turquoise water and sandy beaches here I come!

September 16: I am back home! Here I am exploring the beaches of Bintan.

September 16: And testing the sand quality with my tools.

September 17: I went for a swim in the sea with my mamie (I swam for the first time in the sea during this trip and loved the waves and the salty water which I kept trying to drink).

September 17: After the salty sea, I went for a dip in the pool and then lounged on the pool chairs.

September 17: After a water-filled morning and a restoring nap, I was ready for some new adventures and discoveries, like learning to walk backwards which I was very excited about during the trip, climbing the many stairs in the resort and...

September 17: drinking mango smoothies from a straw (it seems the smell of mangoes was enough to entice me to finally use a straw).

September 17: One moment I was unable to use a straw and the next I was drinking away as if I had always been doing it. So strange how that happens.

September 19: Rolling along on my new trike. Thanks Mamie for the wheels!

September 19: Yesterday, I went to the kite festival with my parents and mamie. Look at all the kites flying over the Marina Sands Hotel (aka the boat).

September 19: I got to play around in the kite field...

September 19: And even made a friend.

September 19: We then went to the mid-autumn lantern festival. Where's Noah?

September 19: Here I am with the ox lantern (my chinese sign) and my maman.

September 20: On Sunday, we went to brunch at the top of the world, well at the top of the Pan Pacific hotel anyways.

September 20: After a lovely brunch, all stuffed with tasty morsels, here we are with the Singapore skyline in the background.

September 20: After brunch we went to the orchid garden in the botanical park.

September 20: My mamie showed me lots of pretty orchids.

September 24: The other day I went to the bird park. Here I am on the tram with my Mamie.

September 25: After the tram ride, I fed the lories with maman. At first I was a bit scared as the birds were loud and very close but then I got into it.

September 25: A few days ago, we went to the zoo and got caught in the tropical rain with the jaguars.

September 28: Last weekend, I went to the East Coast for some pepper crab. So good.

September 28: After a delicious meal, I went to watch the water skiers jet around the bay pulled by a mechanical rope mechanism.

September 28: Before she left last night, my mamie read me my favorite book one last time. Ciao Ciao mamie. I miss you.

September 29: I have been nodding yes for quite a while but just today decided it was time to put my foot down and tell them no. I shake my head no no no.

September 29: Today I also blew my first real underwater bubbles. Soon I will be swimming (ok maybe not that soon, but that's a step).

September 30: I shot up recently (I am now 79cm tall according to dada & maman) and can now reach the door locks and elevator buttons. The fun begins...

September 30: I like my turtle!

Twitter: August 2010

August 7: I have taken a little break from twitter to get settled in my new home. Let's catch up a bit.

August 7: Last week, I explored the botanical & orchid gardens, the Japanese & Chinese gardens, the live turtle museum & the Asian civ. museum. Yay!

August 7: I  also developed a strange splotch on my left hand. The doc says it is nothing to worry about though.

August 7: I have also been swimming a lot. On a typical evening, I go to the  pool with maman. Here I am in my new floatie.

August 7: After a refreshing dip in the pool, I head over to the hawker market for dinner. On the way we pass our favorite flowers galore!

August 7: The Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre! Here we are. Dinner time!

August 7: More food, more food! Here we are ordering from one of the hawker stalls.

August 7: The food is ready. Time to eat!

August 7: All done! (How do you like my new haircut?)

August 7: On the way home, we pass a store selling paraphernalia for the new moon celebration.

August 7: We then walk down the coconut tree lined path and often play one of  my favorite games: catch maman.

August 7: Now I am off to bed. Good night (or good morning to those in the United States).

August 7: Also of note during the last week, I received my "long-term visit  pass". I now legally reside in Singapore.

August 8: Just came back from my little friend Ziad's one month birthday party. Good food, cake and lots of people and kids to play with.

August 9: Happy Singapore National Day! We watched the events on tv at the Zion hawker center with some fried tofu and various satays!  Yum...

August 11: Yesterday was my 13 maths birthday. To celebrate, I went to the J. Balass children's garden, to the pool & then to dinner with some friends.

August 11: I drew my first picture today. I drew it all by myself and even chose the colors.

August 12: Today I went to the Art Museum. I loved spotting cats, fish, hats, dogs, flowers and other favorites.  My laughter surprised many a visitor.

August 12: What's that? A coconut? Where did it come from? The backyard? What do I do with it??

August 15: Yesterday, I went to the Singapore Science Centre. Apart from climbing stairs, I really liked the eletromagnetic projectile device. Woosh...

August 15: Off to the zoo. Yippee! Maybe I will get to see lions, giraffes, tigers, pandas, and penguins. I like penguins. They can turn their heads!

August 15: Before heading to the zoo, I had my first pancakes.Yummy! Can we have those every Sunday dada please?

August 15: I can't believe I never had pancakes before. I guess I have been eating only big people food for a little over a month.

August 15: Here I am with my maman at the zoo. Look at those beautiful white tigers in the background.

August 15: I got to cozy up with some bats. They were so close to me, I could touch them.

August 15: Then I got to play with some lemurs. Aren't they cute?

August 15: Can you spot the deer mouse? It was very friendly and seemed to enjoy being pet (though maman would not let me touch it).

August 18: Yesterday I tried finger painting. The goop was fun to play with but I think I like crayons better.

August 22: Kaya toast for breakfast on a Saturday morning (and my first photo tweet from dada's new iPhone)!

August 22: Playing in the water on a Saturday afternoon in the botanical gardens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaEap2U9KtU

August 23: The other night, I invented my very own sign: the "moon" is kind of like a "ball" in the "sky"! Especially when it is full and round!

August 24: My first pair of shoes are now officially retired. Goodbye shoes!

August 27: Off for an evening in town.

August 27: I had my first Singaporean playdate the other day. My little friend Daniel and I enjoyed a good snack together and some water sports.

August 27: My parents finally gave me a big boy cup - mmm fresh papaya & banana juice ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG-ubm7Ib6c ).

August 28: For a few weeks now, each of my days is sponsored by a letter and a number. The other day was sponsored by the letter I...

August 28: "I" is for Ibis. Mam showed me a video of an ibis. I don't like cartoons or TV but I love the ibis. I point at the computer and sign bird.

August 28: After "wolf", my parents now call me "puppy". I think it may be because I romp around distracted by each flower, leaf, paper, door, stair.

August 28: A little stop at a nearby park on the way back from lunch...

August 28: After I asked for chili powder repeatedly ... My parents finally gave me some... And then I asked for more and more.

August 29: After a nice lunch, I walked home from the Tiong Bahru Market and made it all the way for the first time.

August 29: Over the last few months, my eye color has changed... from bright blue, I now have blue/green eyes. I wonder if they are going to continue changing.

August 30: This morning, our friendly neighbor gave me a pear (yesterday she gave me two oranges yum yum). Here is all that was left of it after 10mn. I looooove pears and devoured it getting pear juice all over dada.

August 30: In 1.5 months, I have doubled my signs. From 20 at age 1, I now do 40 signs. I also say down, ciao ciao, again, encore, poisson, lait.

August 30: I now sign: mouse, elephant, please, wait, chut, frog, gorilla, moon, hairbrush, sun, cold, hot, all done, penguin, bee, giraffe... & bear, strawberry, hug & down. I keep asking for more and more signs wanting to describe the world around me and communicate.

August 30: I can also point to many body parts when prompted including ears, eyes, nose, mouth, knee, hands, feet, tongue, teeth, tummy & bellybutton.
